Senior PS Core Planning Engineer

About the role

Huawei is seeking an experienced Senior PS Core Planning Engineer to join its team in Islamabad. The role focuses on planning, capacity analysis, design, and optimization of the packet‑switched (PS) core network.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor network utilization, growth trends, traffic forecasting and capacity across PS core elements.
• Understand and work with high‑level and low‑level designs for SGSN, MME, SGW/PGW, PCRF/UPF.
• Recommend and implement network optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and service quality.
• Manage CapEx planning, budget forecasting, BOM preparation, RFPs and technical tender evaluations.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors and internal teams to evaluate technical solutions and support project integration, commissioning and new node acceptance.
• Analyze health‑check reports, degraded KPIs and alarms, provide RCA, conduct Major Incident Reviews and update KEDB documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in core network planning, specifically in the PS domain.
• Strong problem‑solving, customer requirement analysis and crisis management abilities.
• Effective communication with technical customers regarding solutions, project plans and progress.

Required skills

• PS core network planning, capacity analysis, network design and optimization.
• Knowledge of EPC, 5GC, UPCC, NFV architecture and telecom cloud solutions.
• Familiarity with SGSN, MME, SGW/PGW, PCRF/UPF.
• Basic communication and data communication knowledge.
