Senior SQL Server DBA - Azure

About the role

Eila Solutions is looking for a highly skilled Senior SQL Server Database Administrator with strong expertise in Microsoft Azure to support a client's enterprise database infrastructure. The role covers database performance, cloud administration, security and business continuity. It is a full-time position based in Gulshan-e-Jamal, Karachi.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze and improve SQL Server performance through query optimization, indexing and execution plan analysis.
• Develop and maintain efficient database architectures, schemas and data models.
• Manage high availability and disaster recovery, including Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering and Azure geo-replication.
• Administer SQL Server databases on Azure Virtual Machines, Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Set up and maintain backup, recovery, monitoring, security and maintenance procedures.
• Execute database migrations from on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure.
• Automate routine tasks with PowerShell, dbatools and Azure CLI, resolve production issues, perform root-cause analysis and guide junior team members.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience, including 3+ years managing production workloads in Azure.
• Strong command of SQL Server 2016-2022, T-SQL, query tuning and performance optimization.
• Solid knowledge of backup and restore, disaster recovery planning and database security.
• Familiarity with Azure networking, storage and identity management.

Required skills

• SQL Server 2016-2022, T-SQL, Always On Availability Groups, database mirroring, log shipping and failover clustering.
• PowerShell scripting and automation; Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
• Advantage: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300), Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates, CI/CD pipelines, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics or Power BI.
