Senior System Administrator – AIX/Linux (IBM Power)

About the role

Systems Limited is looking for a Senior System Administrator with deep expertise in AIX, IBM VIOS and enterprise Linux (RHEL and Oracle Linux) on IBM Power hardware. You will ensure high availability, performance and security of mission‑critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support AIX and IBM VIOS environments, handling installation, configuration, patching and troubleshooting.
• Manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Linux systems in production and development.
• Perform system monitoring, performance tuning and capacity planning across heterogeneous platforms.
• Configure and manage IBM Power hardware, including LPAR partitioning, virtualization and storage integration.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery and high‑availability solutions.
• Collaborate with application, database and network teams to ensure seamless operations.
• Document processes, procedures and system configurations for compliance and knowledge sharing.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior administrators.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on AIX and IBM VIOS administration.
• Strong Linux system administration experience (RHEL and Oracle Linux).
• Experience with IBM Power Systems hardware (preferred).
• Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools.
• Solid understanding of networking, storage management and virtualization.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise change management.
• IBM Certified System Administrator (AIX or Power Systems) and RHCE or Oracle Linux certification.
• Experience with cloud integration or hybrid infrastructure.
• Exposure to enterprise monitoring tools such as Nagios or Tivoli.
