Shift Manager – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

The Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing all production activities during an assigned shift, ensuring that safety, quality, volume, and cost targets are met. This role is central to Lipton’s operational excellence agenda and works closely with the Operations Manager and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the daily production plan, meeting targets for volume, efficiency, cost, and quality.
• Own shift KPIs such as OEE, line productivity, waste %, rework %, and energy efficiency.
• Receive, verify, and manage raw material and packaging stock; coordinate with planning and warehouse for timely replenishment.
• Lead labor planning, supervision, and training for operators, technicians, and contract workers, including unionized staff.
• Enforce safety protocols, PPE usage, and food‑safety standards (GMP, HACCP).
• Drive autonomous maintenance, 5S, and hygiene audits on the shop floor.
• Conduct short‑interval control reviews, shift handovers, and tier meetings.
• Maintain accurate production, downtime, and material usage records in SAP.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives using RCA, fishbone, Pareto, and other problem‑solving tools.
• Oversee weekly/monthly inventory reconciliations and batch traceability.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a manufacturing shift, preferably in a food‑production environment.
• Ability to supervise a mixed workforce, including unionized employees.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on KPI performance.
• Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and other food‑safety regulations.
• Familiarity with SAP for production data entry and reporting.
