Software Engineer (Python, Django & AI Automation)

About the role

Flatgigs is looking for a strong Python and Django developer with sound product judgment and a high degree of ownership. You will work directly with product, business and operations teams, turn broad requirements into clear technical plans and build reliable production systems. The work covers backend platforms, applied AI for call-center operations and, where required, communications infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Own projects end to end: discovery, design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring and iteration.
• Translate business and product goals into technical requirements and milestones, identifying gaps or risks.
• Design, build and maintain Python/Django services, APIs, data models, integrations and background-processing workflows.
• Build AI agents and automation for call-center operations, including performance reports, conversation analysis and feedback for agent KPIs.
• Define evaluation criteria, guardrails and monitoring for AI features so they are useful, measurable and dependable.
• Contribute to PBX and call-center infrastructure, including FreeSWITCH-based solutions and related integrations.
• Write clean, tested code, take part in code reviews, document decisions and improve reliability, performance and security.
• Coordinate work into deliverable stages, manage dependencies and risks, and keep stakeholders informed.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development, mainly in backend or full-stack engineering.
• Ability to turn loosely defined business needs into a sensible technical design and delivery plan.
• Strong problem-solving skills, product awareness and judgment to balance speed, quality and maintainability.
• Clear written and verbal communication, able to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical people.
• Hands-on experience building AI-enabled products, LLM-powered workflows or autonomous/semi-autonomous agents, or strong evidence of the ability to do so.
• Familiarity with prompt design, tool/function calling, structured outputs, retrieval or context management and human-in-the-loop workflows.

Required skills

• Python, Django and Django REST Framework, with a track record of shipping production applications.
• API design, relational databases, data modelling, background jobs, testing, debugging and performance fundamentals.
• Applied AI capability: evaluating AI output quality and reasoning about accuracy, latency, cost, privacy and failure modes.
• Preferred: FreeSWITCH, Asterisk, SIP, WebRTC, PBX, VoIP/call-center technologies.
• Preferred: PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, Docker, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and observability tooling.
• Preferred: experience in customer-support, contact-center, CRM, fintech or other operationally intensive environments, and integrating third-party APIs.
