Solutions Engineer - Core Infrastructure (Structured Cabling)

About the role

This role converts customer requirements, drawings and specifications into a complete S1 technical solution, then supports delivery through installation. It covers copper and fibre, MDF/IDF, racks and cabinets, patch panels, backbone, OSP/ISP, pathways, grounding and bonding, cable schedules, labelling, testing and certification.

Key responsibilities

• Pre-sales: produce the S1 technical BOM, infrastructure architecture, cable quantities, rack layouts, fibre requirements, testing requirements, technical scope, installation assumptions and drawing inputs, and hand an approved solution to the Technology Estimator.
• Post-sales: join the formal handoff, answer technical RFIs, review substitutions, support complex field issues and verify testing and certification results at closeout.
• Serve as the escalation point for S1 Service Desk cases and keep S1 standards, templates and preferred products current.

Required profile

• 5+ years designing structured cabling for commercial or education buildings (must have).
• K-12 or E-rate projects and OSP design (preferred).
• TIA-568, 569, 606 and 607 standards (must have); BICSI TDMM (preferred).
• BICSI RCDD or Technician certification, or a manufacturer designer certification (CommScope, Panduit, Corning, Leviton, Belden) (preferred).

Required skills

• AutoCAD or Bluebeam take-offs and Excel BOMs (must have).
• Fluke certification test reports (preferred).
