Transport Planner & Dispatcher – UK Logistics

About the role

Langston Group is seeking a dedicated Transport Planner & Dispatcher to manage the efficient loading and dispatch of trucks and commercial vehicles across the UK and Europe. The role involves coordinating with drivers, customers, brokers and carriers to ensure timely deliveries while optimising vehicle utilisation.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and arrange suitable loads for available trucks to maximise utilisation and efficiency.
• Plan and allocate loads to appropriate vehicles and drivers based on capacity, route and delivery schedules.
• Monitor drivers in transit, track deliveries in real‑time and address any delays or schedule changes.
• Communicate regularly with customers, brokers, carriers and transport companies to update load statuses.
• Negotiate load rates and transportation prices to ensure cost‑effective solutions.
• Maintain accurate records of loads, vehicles, drivers and deliveries.
• Resolve operational problems swiftly to avoid disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with transport/logistics software and real‑time tracking systems.
• Experience using computer systems to manage transport operations.
