US Tax Preparer & Tax Planning Specialist

About the role

ACE CPAs is seeking an experienced US Tax Specialist to own tax engagements from data collection through accepted e‑file. This hands‑on role requires independent management of a portfolio of returns for individuals and businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file Federal and state returns (1040, 1120‑S, 1065, 1120‑H) and handle multi‑entity, multi‑year, overdue filings and extensions.
• Monitor MeF acknowledgements, resolve rejects, and respond to IRS or state notices.
• Develop written tax plans for business owners, quantify savings, and present strategies via Zoom.
• Prepare sales and use tax returns, support state registrations, and assess taxability.
• Maintain clean workpapers, documentation, and keep engagements moving through the firm’s workflow.
• Serve as primary client contact, communicate by email and Zoom, chase outstanding items, and coordinate with internal teams.

Required profile

• At least two full tax seasons preparing and filing US 1040, 1120‑S, and 1065 returns.
• Hands‑on experience with ProConnect or Drake Tax for actual filings.
• Experience with Federal and multi‑state filings, extensions, e‑filing, and IRS notice responses.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online and Desktop for data extraction.
• Active PTIN or ability to obtain one before start.
• Excellent written and spoken English, able to work full‑time during US business hours.
