Water & Habitat Coordinator (WatHab)

About the role

The Water and Habitat (WatHab) Coordinator is the focal point for all Water and Habitat activities at delegation level in Pakistan. The role defines the programme's strategic direction, priorities and objectives in line with the delegation's operational strategy, and leads its planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. It also leads the WatHab team and strengthens collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the WatHab programme strategy and priorities, coordinate assessments and interventions with Protection, Economic Security, Health and other departments, and adapt plans to humanitarian needs and security constraints.
• Oversee project implementation, review technical designs and proposals, conduct regular field visits to Peshawar and operational areas, and supervise commissioning, handover and sustainability.
• Ensure monitoring and evaluation within the results-based management framework, prepare quarterly and monitoring reports, and report progress, achievements, constraints and risks to delegation management.
• Lead the preparation and monitoring of the programme budget, coordinate procurement with Logistics and Finance, and mobilize technical expertise, equipment and materials.
• Represent WatHab in strategic discussions, build relationships with authorities, humanitarian organisations and technical partners, and promote collaboration with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society and other Movement components.
• Develop and review the emergency-preparedness strategy, manage emergency stocks and equipment, and strengthen the team's capacity to respond to emergencies such as displacement and service disruptions.
• Lead, supervise and support the WatHab team in Islamabad and Peshawar, run performance management and development processes, organize team meetings, plan annual leave and arrange training and capacity building.
