Wing Head – Databases and Systems Administration

About the role

The National Bank of Pakistan is seeking a senior leader to head its Database and Systems Administration wing in Karachi. This VP/SVP‑level position oversees the design, operation, and security of critical database and platform environments across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Database Administration wing, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security of Oracle, SQL Server, Exadata, and SAP environments.
• Design, implement, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster‑recovery processes in line with business continuity policies.
• Oversee SAP BASIS/HANA administration, including system monitoring, performance tuning, upgrades, and transport management.
• Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures for database, Exadata, and SAP operations.
• Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, and internal teams for capacity planning, patch management, and issue resolution.
• Prepare regular reports on system health, incidents, and capacity utilization for senior management.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 8 years of experience in database administration, platform management, and enterprise system operations, with 4 years in a managerial role within a large banking or financial institution.
• Proven leadership, resource planning, and vendor management skills.
