Assistant Director Internal Shari'ah Audit

About the role

The Assistant Director Internal Shari'ah Audit will lead the Shari'ah audit function at easypaisa Digital Bank, providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of the bank’s Shari'ah governance framework. This senior position reports to the Chief Audit Executive and works closely with senior management, the Shari'ah Board, and the Board Audit Committee.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the Shari'ah audit universe, conduct risk assessments and produce an annual audit plan for approval.
• Review compliance with the State Bank of Pakistan Shari'ah Governance Framework, relevant regulations, and internal policies across all business units.
• Lead, manage and execute audit assignments, including planning, testing, and reporting in line with internal audit methodology.
• Prepare and review draft audit reports, ensure issues are documented, action plans are defined, and final reports are issued timely.
• Maintain up‑to‑date audit working papers in the Teammate audit system and ensure audit work meets performance standards.
• Track open and overdue action items, reporting status and reasons for delays to senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in internal audit, preferably within banking or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of Shari'ah governance, SBP Shari'ah regulations and related compliance requirements.
• Ability to lead audit teams, manage stakeholder expectations and communicate findings effectively.
• Experience preparing audit reports and maintaining audit documentation.

Required skills

• Familiarity with the Teammate audit system.
