Climate-Resilient Value Chain Consultant (8‑10 weeks)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC), together with a local partner and technical oversight from IUCN, seeks an experienced individual consultant to conduct a climate‑informed value chain analysis in Swat and Buner districts, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This short‑term assignment (approximately 8–10 weeks) will generate the evidence base for climate‑resilient livelihood interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a comprehensive analysis of agriculture, livestock, and forestry value chains, integrating climate risk data.
• Identify viable, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable value‑chain opportunities for smallholder farmers and forest‑dependent households.
• Produce a detailed report that informs Output 2 (private‑sector engagement, training, financial linkages) and Output 1 (Local Adaptation Plans of Action).
• Collaborate with IRC field teams, local partners, and IUCN technical advisors.
• Present findings to project stakeholders and recommend actionable interventions.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in agriculture, environmental science, climate adaptation, or related fields.
• Proven experience conducting value‑chain analyses in developing‑country contexts.
• Familiarity with ecosystem‑based adaptation (EbA) and climate‑resilient livelihood programming.
• Strong analytical, report‑writing, and presentation skills.
