Mechanical Sub Engineer – Design (Lahore)

About the role

This full‑time, on‑site position in Lahore supports the mechanical design of medium‑voltage (MV) and low‑voltage (LV) switchgear assemblies. The Mechanical Sub Engineer – Design will work closely with electrical, production and quality teams to develop reliable, manufacturable designs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mechanical layouts, select components and create detailed fabrication drawings for MV/LV switchgear.
• Prepare and update 2D CAD drawings and 3D models, focusing on sheet‑metal and enclosure design.
• Support prototype development and assist in testing and inspection of mechanical assemblies.
• Review technical specifications and optimise designs for manufacturability, safety and cost.
• Participate in design reviews, coordinate with procurement and project teams, and resolve design‑related issues.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
• Strong foundation in mechanical design principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, standards and equipment datasheets.
• Basic understanding of MV/LV switchgear or industrial electrical equipment is an advantage.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) tools for 2D drafting and 3D modelling.
• Experience or aptitude in sheet‑metal and enclosure design.
• Knowledge of maintenance and inspection procedures for mechanical assemblies.
• Familiarity with precision fabrication, fitting and testing of industrial/mechanical systems.
