Senior Advisor, Global WASH Technical Unit

About the role

The Senior Advisor, Global WASH Technical Unit will lead and strengthen International Medical Corps' water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) capacity across assigned platform countries. You will provide technical guidance, manage roving WASH staff, and ensure the implementation of best‑practice standards in humanitarian and emergency contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the International Medical Corps WASH team at platform level, overseeing staff, interns and roving members.
• Develop and deliver technical capacity‑building and training for country WASH teams in coordination with the Senior WASH Lead.
• Implement platform and country WASH strategies, protocols, policies and International Medical Corps Minimum Standards.
• Serve as the Technical Unit lead for emergency preparedness, contingency planning and response.
• Review and approve WASH components of proposals and provide guidance throughout the program cycle.
• Coach field staff through on‑site visits and remote support, and represent IMC in national, international and policy forums.
• Perform other duties as assigned to advance WASH objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in water sanitation engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience managing and building capacity of WASH staff.
• Extensive field experience delivering WASH programs in complex humanitarian and emergency settings.
• Strong analytical ability to solve complex problems and improve program outcomes.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder engagement.
