Accounting Manager – UK

About the role

The Accounting Manager – UK is a full‑time, hybrid position based in Karachi, with the flexibility to work partly from home. You will manage a portfolio of UK‑based SME and self‑employed clients, overseeing bookkeeping, accounts preparation and tax compliance while supervising junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, handling queries, onboarding and off‑boarding.
• Review and approve accounts, corporation tax returns and Self Assessment tax returns before submission.
• Supervise, mentor and allocate work to junior and senior accounting staff, ensuring technical accuracy.
• Maintain and improve internal processes, workflows and practice management tools to maximise efficiency.
• Monitor KPIs for productivity, turnaround times and quality, ensuring delivery within internal SLAs.

Required profile

• ACCA/ACA qualified (or equivalent) with strong knowledge of UK GAAP, corporation tax and personal tax.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in a UK accounting practice, including remote staff management.
• Excellent English communication skills (C1 or above) for direct UK client contact.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and balance workload across a team.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple client deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Iris Elements and Taxfiler.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH).
• Experience with practice management tools and accounting software optimisation.
