Assistant Director Internal Shari'ah Audit

About the role

The incumbent will lead Easypaisa Digital Bank’s Internal Shari’ah Audit unit, providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of the bank’s Shari’ah governance framework and ensuring compliance with SBP regulations and Shari’ah principles.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the Shari’ah audit universe, conduct risk assessments and create an annual audit plan for approval.
• Lead, manage and execute audit assignments, including planning, testing, reporting and follow‑up, while maintaining audit quality and documentation in the Teammate system.
• Review compliance with SBP Shari’ah Governance Framework, internal policies and Shari’ah Board resolutions, and report non‑compliance risks to senior management.
• Monitor emerging Shari’ah, regulatory and industry developments and advise the audit team and auditees.

Required profile

• Minimum graduate degree with at least 10‑12 years of banking audit, governance, risk or compliance experience.
• Certified Shari’ah Advisor & Auditor; professional certifications such as CIA, CISA or CAMS are preferred.
• Strong communication, analytical, leadership and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Islamic banking principles, SBP Islamic Banking regulations and Shari’ah Governance Framework.
• Proficiency in risk‑based internal auditing and use of audit software (Teammate).
• Familiarity with digital banking, technology, data science or analytics concepts.
