Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

An Assistant Financial Controller is sought to manage complex accounting operations and end-to-end bookkeeping following US accounting practices. The role suits someone who can work independently, handle month-end close, maintain accurate financial records and apply sound accounting judgment. It is based at Plaza ONE, near DHA Phase 2, Gate 1, Islamabad, with hours from 2 PM to 11 PM Pakistan Standard Time.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end bookkeeping and accounting, keeping financial records accurate and up to date
• Handle complex reconciliations, accruals, adjusting journal entries and month-end close independently
• Prepare and review general ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, balance sheet schedules and supporting documents
• Investigate discrepancies and unusual transactions and resolve accounting issues
• Analyse financial statements, identify trends and variances and give financial insights
• Maintain documentation, internal controls and compliance with US accounting standards
• Support audit preparation, financial reporting and process improvements
• Review accounting work and guide junior team members where applicable

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent preferred
• 4+ years of accounting and bookkeeping experience
• Proven independent experience with complex reconciliations, accruals and adjusting entries
• Preferred: public accounting, outsourced accounting or US accounting experience, and experience reviewing junior accountants' work

Required skills

• Strong understanding of US GAAP, general ledger management and month-end close
• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, Xero or similar accounting software
• Attention to detail, organisational skills and strong written and verbal communication
