Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

An Assistant Financial Controller is sought to manage complex accounting operations and end-to-end bookkeeping following US accounting practices. The role suits someone who can work independently, handle month-end close, maintain accurate financial records and apply sound accounting judgment. It is a full-time, onsite position in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, with working hours from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM (PKT).

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end bookkeeping and accounting, keeping financial records accurate and up to date.
• Handle complex account reconciliations, accruals, adjusting journal entries and month-end close independently.
• Prepare and review general ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, balance sheet schedules and supporting documentation.
• Investigate discrepancies, unusual transactions and accounting issues to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Analyse financial statements, identify trends and variances, and provide financial insights.
• Maintain documentation, internal controls and compliance with US accounting standards.
• Support audit preparation, financial reporting and process improvements, and guide junior team members where applicable.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent preferred.
• 4+ years of accounting and bookkeeping experience.
• Proven independent experience with complex reconciliations, accruals, adjusting entries and month-end close.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Preferred: public accounting, outsourced accounting or US accounting experience, and experience reviewing junior accountants' work.

Required skills

• US GAAP, general ledger management and month-end close procedures.
• Accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero or similar.
• Financial reporting, budgeting, variance analysis and internal controls (preferred).
