Assistant Manager - Crewing

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Crewing will oversee the full manning pipeline for vessels operating out of Pakistan, ensuring seamless crew sourcing, certification, mobilization, onboard support, and repatriation. The role also supports the Islamabad Crew Management & Training Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a rolling 12‑month manning forecast covering reliefs, leave reserves, attrition and fresh‑intake requirements.
• Coordinate crew rotation, sign‑on/sign‑off scheduling and flag gaps early with recovery plans.
• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment, testing, interviews and documentation in line with approvals.
• Prepare Seafarer Employment Agreements compliant with MLC 2006 and flag‑state requirements.
• Verify crew documents (STCW, CDC, endorsements, passport, medicals, security clearance) before mobilization.
• Ensure compliance with MLC 2006 Reg. 1.4, data protection (UK GDPR) and maintain audit readiness.
• Supervise pre‑sea and STCW‑mandated training, oversee facilities, instructors and monthly assessments.
• Handle pre‑joining formalities, visas, travel arrangements and liaison with embassies, agents and immigration.
• Act as 24/7 point of contact for crew welfare, grievances and emergencies, coordinating with principal, P&I club and next‑of‑kin.
• Provide accurate payroll inputs and support reporting on manning, recruitment, training and costs.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in maritime crewing, HR or related field; cruise‑sector exposure preferred.
• MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification (HEC or University attested).
• Strong written and spoken English, planning discipline and attention to detail.
• Proactive stakeholder management and ownership mindset.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of STCW 2010.
• Working knowledge of MLC 2006.
• Familiarity with UK GDPR data‑protection requirements.
• Understanding of Pakistani seafarer and immigration regulations.
