Chapter Lead – Community Volunteer

About the role

The Chapter Lead will be the face of GraphQL Pakistan in Karachi, driving the growth of a local developer community focused on modern API standards and distributed data querying. This part‑time volunteer position requires 4‑5 hours per week to plan and execute community activities.

Key responsibilities

• Organize monthly meetups, workshops and study jams (online and offline) in Karachi.
• Invite and coordinate local speakers and industry experts.
• Build partnerships with universities, software houses and tech communities.
• Mentor students and junior developers within the chapter.
• Represent the Karachi chapter at national GraphQL Pakistan events.
• Manage a small team of local volunteers.

Required profile

• Solid understanding of GraphQL fundamentals, modern API design and distributed data architectures.
• Experience with web or mobile development using JavaScript/TypeScript or similar languages.
• Demonstrated community‑building or leadership experience (e.g., running meetups or student groups).
• Strong communication and facilitation skills for diverse technical audiences.
• Organizational and project‑management abilities to plan events and coordinate volunteers.
• Commitment to inclusive, non‑discriminatory community practices.
