Deputy Manager Operations – M&E and Compliance

About the role

The Deputy Manager Operations – M&E and Compliance supports the Manager M&E in ensuring Akhuwat’s operations run efficiently, comply with regulations, and deliver measurable results. The role bridges Operations, Head Office support functions, and field teams, overseeing policy implementation, risk management, and performance reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a compliance calendar covering regulatory, statutory, donor, and internal policy requirements and ensure timely, accurate submissions.
• Conduct periodic compliance reviews and spot checks against policies, SOPs, donor agreements, and applicable laws.
• Implement the M&E framework across operations and projects, ensuring indicators, data collection tools, and reporting timelines are followed.
• Communicate M&E findings and recommendations to responsible teams and monitor the implementation of action plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Development Studies, Public Policy or related field.
• 4–6 years of relevant experience in operations, project management, compliance, risk management or M&E, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or coordination role.
• Experience in microfinance, development sector/NGO, social enterprise or a financial institution.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with MIS, ERP systems and dashboard tools such as Power BI.
• Strong understanding of operations management, internal controls, compliance frameworks and operational risk.
• Budgeting, variance analysis and financial reporting capabilities.
