Junior Accountant – Bookkeeping & Tax Compliance

About the role

Starfish Creative Studio is seeking a detail‑oriented Junior Accountant to handle bookkeeping, payroll, tax compliance and financial reporting for its operations in Karachi. The successful candidate will work independently, ensuring accurate records and timely statutory filings.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain complete books of accounts in line with IAS/IFRS, recording daily transactions, AP/AR, cash and bank vouchers.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, fixed‑asset register and financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow).
• Process monthly payroll, calculate employee tax deductions and issue payslips.
• Calculate and remit statutory payments such as EOBI, SESSI and withholding tax.
• File income tax, withholding tax and sales tax returns within deadlines.
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide required schedules and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, B.Com or BBA (part‑qualified ACCA, ICMA or CA (Inter) acceptable).
• 3–5 years of hands‑on accounting or bookkeeping experience, or fresh graduate with strong internship exposure.
• Working knowledge of Pakistani income tax, withholding tax and sales tax regulations.
• Familiarity with FBR/IRIS, EOBI and SESSI procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Peachtree or Sage.
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel.
• Good understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping, reconciliations and preparation of financial statements.
