Junior Hydraulic Engineer (Civil)

About the role

National Development Consultants (NDC) is looking for a motivated Junior Hydraulic Engineer (Civil) to support hydraulic, hydrological, irrigation and water resources engineering assignments. The engineer assists senior engineers in project planning, design reviews, hydraulic calculations, technical report preparation and field investigations for water infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in hydraulic and hydrological analysis for water resources, irrigation, drainage and hydraulic structures projects.
• Support preparation of feasibility studies, design reports, design criteria and technical documentation.
• Perform hydraulic calculations for canals, pipelines, culverts, headworks, weirs, barrages, siphons and related structures.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications and design submissions.
• Take part in site visits, surveys, data collection and construction monitoring.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and help prepare tender documents, BOQs and engineering estimates.
• Use engineering software for hydraulic modelling and analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a related field.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in hydraulic, irrigation, water resources or infrastructure projects; fresh graduates with strong academic backgrounds may also be considered.
• Knowledge of hydraulic design principles and engineering standards.

Required skills

• Familiarity with hydraulic modelling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPANET, WaterGEMS or similar is an advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.
