Junior Software Engineer

About the role

A development team in Karachi is looking for a motivated Junior Software Engineer. The ideal candidate has a solid programming foundation, is willing to learn new technologies and can work collaboratively with senior developers to build and maintain high-quality software.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing, developing, testing and maintaining software applications.
• Write clean, readable and maintainable code under the guidance of senior developers.
• Identify, troubleshoot and fix basic software bugs and technical issues.
• Help develop and integrate APIs and database solutions.
• Take part in code reviews and follow software development best practices.
• Collaborate with team members to understand project requirements and write and maintain technical documentation.
• Learn and implement new tools, frameworks and technologies.
• Join team meetings and Agile/Scrum activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
• Preferred: internship experience or personal software development projects.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of at least one programming language such as JavaScript, Python, Java, C# or PHP.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and fundamental data structures.
• Basic knowledge of databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
• Familiarity with Git and version control.
• Basic understanding of APIs, software testing and debugging.
• Preferred: React, Node.js, Django.NET or Spring Boot; web development and responsive design; Agile methodologies.
