Multi-Vendor Telecom Optix Transmission Engineer / Team Lead

About the role

Huawei is seeking an experienced Multi‑Vendor Telecom Optix Transmission Engineer to lead a team of optical planning engineers across Pakistan. The role involves designing, planning and supervising the deployment of metro, regional and long‑haul optical transport networks using a variety of vendor equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise optical planning engineers to ensure timely delivery of network designs and project milestones.
• Oversee high‑level and low‑level designs for DWDM, OTN, FTTS and IPRAN networks.
• Perform traffic analysis, link‑budget and span calculations, and forecast bandwidth demand.
• Manage CapEx planning, budget forecasting, BOM preparation, RFPs and technical tender evaluations.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors, contractors and internal departments to define operational standards and improve network deployment and monitoring.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in telecom transmission engineering, preferably with Huawei, ZTE, Nokia or Fiberhome equipment.
• Hands‑on experience in multi‑vendor optical network integration, site installation, testing and commissioning.
• Strong analytical thinking, project management, vendor negotiation and cross‑functional communication skills.

Required skills

• Huawei and ZTE optical transmission systems (DWDM, OTN, PTN, SDH).
• Link‑budget calculations, optical protection schemes and routing/MPLS integration.
• NMS/EMS platforms and network monitoring tools.
• Network swap, upgrade and merger project experience.
• Familiarity with operators such as Zong, Jazz, Telenor, Ufone/PTCL.
