Physical Design Engineer (Full-Time Onsite)

About the role

A Physical Design Engineer is sought to join a team working on the physical implementation and sign-off of advanced semiconductor products. The role covers high-performance, low-power designs and offers hands-on experience across the full physical design flow in advanced technology nodes. The position is full-time and onsite.

Key responsibilities

• Execute end-to-end physical design from RTL to GDSII, including floor planning, power planning, synthesis, clock tree synthesis (CTS), routing, ECOs, extraction and sign-off preparation
• Perform PPA optimization at block and full-chip level, focusing on timing closure, power reduction and area efficiency
• Analyze and resolve timing issues using STA methods, considering congestion, routing and power impacts
• Conduct power analysis and power integrity verification, including EM/IR analysis and mitigation
• Support physical verification to achieve clean sign-off, including DRC, LVS and ERC
• Work with front-end design, architecture and DFT teams to meet design constraints, timing budgets and power requirements
• Develop and improve physical design flows, methodologies and automation scripts to improve QOR and reduce turnaround time

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field
• Junior: fresh graduates or 1-2 years of experience; Senior: 3-5 years of relevant industry experience; Expert/Lead: more than 5 years of physical design experience
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team

Required skills

• Scripting and automation in TCL and/or Python
• Understanding of RTL design and core digital design fundamentals
• End-to-end physical design flow from RTL to GDSII; exposure to Synopsys tools is a plus
• Familiarity with physical design tools for advanced nodes (7nm and below is a plus)
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of STA and timing closure
• Exposure to power analysis, EM/IR checks and power integrity; awareness of DRC and LVS
