Research Engineer - Electrical, Mechanical & Chemical (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a PhD‑level Research Engineer to develop and optimise advanced electrical, mechanical and chemical systems for a global research services leader. The position is fully remote and operates on a contract basis, allowing the specialist to collaborate with cross‑functional teams on high‑impact projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, simulate and validate multidisciplinary engineering solutions based on project specifications.
• Perform theoretical modelling and experimental validation to ensure performance and reliability.
• Develop and refine algorithms or processes that improve efficiency and scalability of engineered systems.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation and presentations for stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Provide expert troubleshooting and optimisation recommendations for existing platforms.

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated experience in applied research, system design or process optimisation within the relevant engineering domain.
• Strong ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical, scalable solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with simulation tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, MATLAB or SPICE.
• Experience in data analysis, statistics and experimental design methodologies.
