Senior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead our accounting practice, manage a team of professionals, and deliver high‑quality financial services to UK‑based clients. The role combines technical accounting expertise with strong leadership and client‑relationship skills.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the accounting practice and supervise a team of accountants and junior staff.
• Review work for accuracy, compliance, and quality; provide training, guidance, and performance feedback.
• Manage bookkeeping, VAT returns, and accounting records for SMEs, contractors, and businesses.
• Prepare and review management accounts, financial reports, and supporting schedules.
• Maintain client financial records in QuickBooks Online, Xero, and other cloud‑based systems.
• Handle bank and credit‑card reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Integrate and standardise accounting software with internal systems; maintain consistent Chart of Accounts.
• Improve internal workflows using Karbon, Asana, ClickUp, and other tools.
• Monitor project accounting, provide financial insights, and support senior management in planning.

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in a UK‑based accounting practice and 5+ years in a US/Canada‑based firm (Canada experience preferred).
• ACC​A qualified, affiliate, or part‑qualified (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Proven experience managing teams and supervising junior staff.
• Excellent communication, client‑relationship, and analytical skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
