Senior Officer, Payment Operations (Remittances)

About the role

MBP Operations Group is hiring a Senior Officer for its Payment Operations unit (MBP). The role covers the processing of remittance, clearing and fund transfer transactions, ensuring they meet turnaround times and operating procedures while delivering value-added services and complying with regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Process foreign remittance transactions (NSTP cases, inward and outward) and incoming RTGS payments within standard turnaround time, accurately and in line with procedures and regulations.
• Process inward clearing cheques and onus cheque funds transfers within standard turnaround time.
• Ensure timely settlement of general ledger entries for cash and cheque deposits and inward clearing, with follow-up on unsettled or unreconciled items.
• Complete and submit regulatory reports on time.
• Coordinate with local and foreign correspondent banks on queries and tracking of inward and outward remittances.
• Screen all transactions against sanction lists and watchlists before processing, escalating flagged cases to the Compliance team.
• Resolve queries and complaints internally and externally within the specified turnaround time and minimise errors.
• Take part in user acceptance testing for system upgrades and new payment platforms, giving operational feedback to Technology.
• Maintain documents and correspondence records, identify process gaps and recommend improvements, and work in shifts as required.

Required profile

• 1-3 years of banking operations experience, preferably in remittances.
• Good knowledge of general banking rules and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work in shifts according to business needs.
