Team Lead Global Accounting & Inventory Control

About the role

The Team Lead – Global Accounting & Inventory Control will head a group of accounting professionals supporting a worldwide retail business. The role ensures accurate financial close, robust inventory accounting, and continuous process improvement while complying with U.S. GAAP, SOX and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of accounting specialists, set performance goals and allocate workload to meet daily, weekly and month‑end deadlines.
• Oversee inventory operations for retail stores, distribution centers, e‑commerce and wholesale channels, including reconciliations between SAP, warehouse management systems and management reports.
• Investigate inventory variances, shrink, damages and write‑offs; coordinate cycle counts and physical inventory accounting.
• Manage month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close activities, prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations and inventory reserve analysis.
• Maintain SOX internal controls, document key financial controls, support internal and external audits and remediate control deficiencies.
• Identify automation opportunities, develop SOPs, and drive Lean, Six Sigma and continuous‑improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and close cycle time.
• Partner with U.S. and regional finance, supply‑chain, merchandising, logistics and IT teams; support SAP enhancements and system testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA, ACCA, CA, CMA or equivalent certification.
• 10+ years of accounting and inventory experience, preferably in U.S. retail or consumer‑products companies.
• 5+ years of supervisory or team‑lead experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX compliance and internal‑control frameworks.
