US Tax Specialist

About the role

We are searching for an experienced US Tax Specialist with deep expertise in U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance for both individuals and business entities. This permanent night‑shift position works on U.S. Central Standard Time and is based in our Karachi office.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex U.S. federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals (Form 1040, 1040‑NR) and business entities (Form 1120, 1120‑S, 1065).
• Prepare international tax forms and disclosures.
• Manage state income/franchise tax returns, multi‑state apportionment, and sales & use tax compliance.
• Conduct technical research on complex tax issues and calculate quarterly estimated tax payments and extensions.
• Draft responses to IRS and state tax authority inquiries, assist with audits and dispute resolution.
• Collaborate with accounting to perform book‑to‑tax adjustments, trial‑balance reconciliations, and ensure financial statements align with tax reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• ACCA/CA finalist status with direct U.S. tax experience is a plus.
• 3–4 years of hands‑on U.S. tax compliance experience in a public accounting firm, US‑facing BPO, or corporate tax department.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, Internal Revenue Code (IRC), and bookkeeping principles.
• Impeccable written and verbal English.
• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure during peak tax seasons.

Required skills

• Proficiency with U.S. tax software.
• Experience using cloud accounting platforms.
