Job description
About the role
An experienced Manager - Accounts Payable is sought to strengthen the Finance & Accounts team and lead the Accounts Payable function. The successful candidate will be a qualified CA or ACCA professional with 7-8 years of experience in accounts payable and general accounting, including leading a team, and will own both the accounts payable and provident fund functions across the group's entities. The position is based in Islamabad.
Key responsibilities
- Own the purchase-to-pay cycle: receive, verify and process invoices, match them to purchase orders and receipts, record them correctly in the ERP, and plan and run regular bank transfers and cheques while deducting withholding tax and handling sales tax.
- Reconcile vendor accounts and statements, track advances and retentions, control expense claims, petty cash and reimbursements, and keep records audit-ready.
- Manage provident fund schemes under their trust deeds: monthly processing, member records, reconciliations of bank and investment accounts, and member settlements and withdrawals.
- Contribute to monthly close, post accruals, prepayments and provisions, and reconcile payables, provident fund and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and review periodic financial reports, compile supporting schedules, and act as the finance point of contact for payables, provident fund and reporting matters.
- Oversee GST data for monthly filings, ensure timely withholding tax deductions, and stay up to date with tax rule changes.
- Lead and coach the payables and provident fund team, define and enforce policies and internal controls, champion standardization and automation, support audits, and report to senior management.
Required profile
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or ACCA member.
- 7-8 years of progressive experience in accounts payable and general accounting, including supervisory or managerial responsibility, ideally in a multi-entity or group setup; 8-10 years desirable.
- Strong leadership, attention to detail, and ability to handle high transaction volumes and meet month-end deadlines.
- Excellent communication with vendors, trustees, auditors and internal teams, and high integrity with confidential information.
Required skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and confidence with large volumes of data.
- Practical working knowledge of an ERP system.
- Solid grasp of accounting principles, the purchase-to-pay cycle, and fund accounting.
- Understanding of Pakistan tax requirements, including withholding tax and federal and provincial sales tax.
- Exposure to IFRS and US GAAP-based reporting; hands-on provident fund experience is an advantage.
