Accountant (UK Tax and Bookkeeping)

About the role

Funavry Technologies (Pvt.) Limited is looking for an Accountant with practical experience in UK tax compliance and bookkeeping. The role supports a portfolio of UK clients by keeping accurate accounting records, preparing year-end accounts and handling corporation tax and Self Assessment returns. It is an on-site position in Islamabad, working UK hours (12 PM to 9 PM), and reports to the Chief Global Business Services.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile client bookkeeping records in Xero, QuickBooks Online, Capium and Excel, and complete monthly bank reconciliations across multiple banks and currencies.
• Prepare year-end schedules, journal entries and statutory year-end accounts (FRS 105 and FRS 102) for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Prepare corporation tax computations and CT600 returns, and UK Self Assessment returns (SA100 and supplementary pages).
• Organise client tax documents such as P60s, P45s, P11Ds and mortgage interest certificates.
• Submit statutory accounts to Companies House and track filing deadlines, including the 31 January Self Assessment deadline.
• Act as a point of contact for UK clients, follow up on missing information and escalate unusual or high-risk cases to the UK reviewer or manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• At least one year of practical experience in UK tax and bookkeeping, preferably in a UK accountancy practice or serving UK clients.
• Understanding of UK bookkeeping, year-end accounts, FRS 105 and FRS 102, and of Corporation Tax and Self Assessment.
• Ability to keep accurate working papers, manage multiple client files and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Xero, QuickBooks Online and FreeAgent; familiarity with Capium.
• Familiarity with HMRC online services and Companies House online filing.
• Strong Excel and working knowledge of Google Sheets.
• Understanding of UK personal tax bands and the Personal Allowance.
