Assistant Accountant

About the role

Contour Software, a subsidiary of Constellation Software Inc. and part of the Data Action division, is looking for an Assistant Accountant to maintain its financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments. The role works closely with the Finance Manager to create and analyse financial reports, process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices and tax payments.

Key responsibilities

• Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete postings in GP, post invoice batches in the sales module and defer invoices correctly
• Review AR aging reports and process customer account credits, return memos and cash receipts against invoices
• Oversee the Accounts Mailbox, coordinate customer invoices and reconcile monthly invoice activity
• Assist in reconciling AR accounts, bank and account reconciliations, and AP and AR sub-ledgers to the General Ledger
• Prepare internal monthly financial statements, including bank and account reconciliations, variance analysis and accrual updates
• Process accounts payable, identify intercompany differences, and prepare intercompany, transfer pricing and management fee journals
• Assist with balance sheet, revenue analysis, trial balance variance and quarterly disclosure reporting
• Maintain financial records in line with IFRS and improve accounting processes; undertake special projects and ad hoc analysis

Required profile

• Proven bookkeeping and accounting experience, with a solid understanding of accounts payable and receivable principles
• Ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
• Finalist or part-qualified professional qualification (ACCA, ICAP or similar) and a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
• Proficiency in English and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Required skills

• Experience with Oracle NetSuite accounting software
• Data entry skills and hands-on spreadsheet experience
• MS Excel proficiency
