Biomedical Engineer

About the role

Shifa International Hospitals, a 550-bed quaternary care hospital in Islamabad, is hiring a full-time, on-site Biomedical Engineer. The engineer installs, inspects, repairs, calibrates and maintains biomedical equipment so that it operates safely, reliably and efficiently across hospital departments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of medical equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate timely repairs to minimise downtime.
• Carry out equipment installation, inspection, testing, calibration and commissioning.
• Maintain records of equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, service reports and equipment history.
• Ensure equipment complies with safety standards, regulatory requirements and hospital quality protocols.
• Coordinate with clinical departments, vendors and service providers on maintenance, repairs and technical issues.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement, replacement and lifecycle management.
• Assist in the technical evaluation of equipment for procurement and replacement.
• Provide user guidance and basic training to clinical staff on safe and effective use of equipment.
• Support equipment audits, risk assessments, incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication, coordination and documentation skills.
