Bookkeeper / Assistant Accountant

About the role

Veritas Consultancy (UK) Ltd is looking for a diligent and proactive Bookkeeper/Assistant Accountant to join its Finance team in Islamabad. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will support day‑to‑day financial operations, reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records, process accounts payable/receivable, issue sales invoices and manage credit control.
• Perform bank and VAT reconciliations, post purchase invoices and produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Maintain a compliance calendar, liaise with HMRC, Companies House and other regulators, and ensure proper filing of financial documents.
• Act as the main point of contact for finance‑related queries, liaise with suppliers, banks and partner organisations, and support year‑end closing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or studying towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA.
• 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, or strong academic knowledge.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, work independently and maintain high accuracy.
• Strong communication, integrity and a proactive, solution‑focused work ethic.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero accounting software (training available if needed).
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
