Computer Science Teacher - After-School STEAM Program

About the role

21st Century Learners Inc. runs an after-school STEAM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) that helps learners build critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills through hands-on activities. It is looking for a part-time, on-site Computer Science Teacher in Karachi to teach age-appropriate computer science lessons covering core computing concepts, programming fundamentals and computational thinking.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans and materials and deliver engaging, interactive computer science classes.
• Support students with varied learning needs and maintain a positive, safe classroom environment.
• Collaborate with program staff to align content with STEAM objectives and track learner progress.
• Communicate key updates to program coordinators and caregivers as needed.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in Computer Science and related technologies, able to explain concepts clearly to learners.
• Experience or training in Computer Science education and curriculum development for school-age students.
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience in computer science or related subjects, preferably in a school or after-school setting.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Education or a related field preferred; relevant certifications are a plus.
• Ability to work on-site in Karachi during after-school hours and collaborate with a diverse team of educators.

Required skills

• Lesson planning and structuring inclusive, engaging activities aligned with STEAM goals.
• Comfort with Python concepts relevant to computing and problem-solving in an educational context.
• Effective classroom management and facilitation, with a student-centered approach.
• Clear verbal and written communication in English; proficiency in local languages is an advantage.
