Credit Risk Modelling Audit Specialist – ECL Valuation

About the role

EY’s Assurance ECL Valuation team is looking for a Credit Risk Modelling Audit Specialist to lead external audits of credit risk models under IFRS 9 for MENA‑region clients. You will apply your technical expertise to evaluate model development, validation and performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical specialist for external audits of credit risk models (IFRS 9) at audit entities.
• Review model development and validation documentation, assess model performance and replicate results independently.
• Examine end‑to‑end credit risk processes, including governance, policies and procedures.
• Perform substantive testing and technical analysis for IFRS 9 and credit risk modelling engagements.
• Support a broad range of banking risk issues and contribute to regional and national propositions.
• Monitor changes in IFRS 9 requirements and validate or build credit risk measurement models, including challenger models.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in credit risk modelling or audit within a financial institution or professional services firm.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with credit risk modelling techniques (PD, EAD, LGD) for retail and wholesale banking.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as SAS, R or Python.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 9 and CECL regulatory frameworks.
