Data Engineer – Lahore, Pakistan

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer based in Lahore to design, build and operate robust data pipelines and warehouses that power enterprise analytics and reporting. The role spans batch and streaming ingestion, transformation, modelling and operationalisation across cloud and on‑premise sources.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Build and maintain dimensional models (star/snowflake schemas, slowly‑changing dimensions).
• Develop data transformations in SQL and Python and orchestrate workflows with tools such as Airflow, Azure Data Factory or AWS Glue.
• Implement data quality checks, lineage and observability using solutions like Great Expectations or Monte Carlo.
• Optimise performance of data warehouses (Snowflake, Synapse, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks).
• Collaborate with BI and analytics teams to create semantic models for self‑service consumption.
• Document pipelines, schemas and operational runbooks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience building production‑grade data pipelines.
• Professional proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL (window functions, CTEs, query tuning).
• Python programming.
• Experience with a major data warehouse or lakehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, Synapse, Redshift, Databricks).
• Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, dbt).
• Knowledge of cloud object storage (AWS S3, Azure ADLS, Google Cloud Storage) and file formats (Parquet, ORC, Avro).
• Data quality and observability tools (Great Expectations, Monte Carlo).
• Data modelling concepts (star/snowflake schema, slowly‑changing dimensions).
