Department Manager – Fresh Fruits & Vegetables

About the role

The Department Manager for Fresh – Fruits & Vegetables will lead the store team in delivering high‑quality produce to customers across METRO’s wholesale network. Reporting to the Country Executive Manager, you will be responsible for stock ordering, merchandising, and ensuring the department meets its sales targets while maintaining operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in stock ordering and maintain optimal inventory levels for the fresh produce department.
• Lead Store Associates in mass merchandising, shelf management, and department cleanliness.
• Drive productivity improvements and operational efficiency.
• Support the Floor Manager in achieving departmental sales goals.
• Manage overnight operations according to Dark Store Operations (DSO) protocols and prepare the department for store opening.
• Ensure product presentation follows the planogram and secondary displays meet BMPL guidelines.
• Conduct quality‑assurance checks, monitor product expiries, and enforce FIFO inventory practices.
• Maintain compliance with SOPs, company policies, uniform standards, and time‑keeping discipline.

Required profile

• Graduation or equivalent degree.
• Ability to report to senior management and support the Floor Manager.
• Strong organizational skills for stock and shelf management.
