Education Promoter - Inclusive Education Recovery Project

About the role

Pak Mission Society (PMS) is recruiting four Education Promoters for its 36-month Inclusive Education Recovery and Girls' Empowerment Initiative, funded by Kindermissionswerk. The project sets up 20 Community Learning and Reintegration Centres (CLRCs) for 2,000 out-of-school children in Lower Kohistan and Kolai-Palas Kohistan, strengthens 20 government primary schools and runs Girls' STEAM Clubs and Mothers' Groups. The Education Promoter is the project's main field link with the CLRCs, schools and communities in an assigned cluster of villages, working under the Education Specialist.

Key responsibilities

• Support village meetings with the Jirga, SMCs and Mothers' Groups to agree CLRC locations and community contributions, identify out-of-school children and support enrolment.
• Visit CLRCs regularly, coach facilitators on TaRL grouping, safeguarding and multi-grade management, and ensure attendance and learning materials are in place.
• Follow up CLRC graduates' attendance and retention for 12 months and assist remedial support in Year 3.
• Support teacher training, make classroom visits to trained teachers and monitor school furniture, solar systems, WASH facilities and accessibility improvements.
• Help set up and run Girls' STEAM Clubs, ensure they are led by female facilitators where possible, and identify children with disabilities or learning difficulties.
• Activate and train School Management Committees, form Mothers' Groups and hold parent, elder and Qazi engagement sessions.
• Collect and verify attendance, enrolment, assessment and retention data using KoBoToolbox, collect Most Significant Change stories and submit weekly and monthly field reports.
• Comply with the Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and PSEA policy, raise safeguarding concerns immediately and respect local culture and the safety of female staff and girls.
• Coordinate with school heads, facilitators and the District Education Office, and support logistics for training workshops and project meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in education (B.Ed), Social Sciences or a related field; M.Ed or similar preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in school-based education programming, teaching, teacher training or community mobilization (3+ years preferred).
• Experience with non-formal education, foundational literacy and numeracy or girls' education preferred; familiarity with inclusive education and child protection frameworks.
• Fluency in Urdu and Shina or Kohistani (or Pashto) is required; basic English preferred.
• Ability to walk long distances and work in remote areas; female candidates strongly encouraged.
• Candidates from, or familiar with, Kohistan and conservative communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of teaching methodologies and the ability to coach teachers and facilitators.
• Strong communication with parents, elders, religious leaders and school communities.
• Basic computer and smartphone skills for data collection and reporting; KoBoToolbox training will be provided.
