Head of People & Intellectual Capital (HR Leader)

About the role

The Head of People & Intellectual Capital will lead all HR functions for Mashreq Bank Pakistan, aligning people strategies with the bank’s business objectives. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with senior management and the head office, the role ensures compliance with local regulations and drives a high‑performance culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies that support the bank’s goals and values.
• Maintain PICG policies and procedures in line with Pakistani laws and regulations.
• Drive a performance‑focused culture through people development and effective performance management.
• Coach and guide senior managers on people practices, including succession planning.
• Facilitate talent management and succession planning processes across the country.
• Oversee recruitment, compensation & benefits, employee relations, training, and development.
• Ensure robust governance and regulatory compliance, including reporting to the State Bank of Pakistan on executive appointments, separations, and Fit & Proper assessments.
• Support the Board Human Resource & Remuneration Committee and act as its secretary.
• Lead HR planning, monitor the human capital scorecard, and drive engagement initiatives.
• Develop and manage compensation and benefits structures, benchmark against market practices, and maintain performance management systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior HR leadership, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
• Ability to advise the CEO and senior management on people strategy and interventions.
• Experience with regulatory compliance and reporting in Pakistan’s banking environment.
• Demonstrated capability to coach senior managers and lead talent management initiatives.
• Strong governance and reporting skills, including interaction with board committees.
