Head of People & Intellectual Capital (HR Leader)

About the role

The Head of People & Intellectual Capital (PICG) will lead Mashreq Bank Pakistan’s HR function, partnering with the CEO and senior management to align people strategies with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute HR strategies that support the bank’s goals and values.
• Oversee recruitment, compensation & benefits, performance management, employee relations, training, and compliance.
• Ensure governance and regulatory reporting to the State Bank of Pakistan, including Fit & Proper assessments.
• Support the Board Human Resource & Remuneration Committee and act as its secretary.
• Drive talent management, succession planning, and culture initiatives to create a preferred workplace.
• Lead HR planning, maintain the human capital scorecard, and recommend hiring initiatives.
• Design and implement employee engagement strategies aligned with Mashreq’s global approach.
• Manage compensation and benefits policies, conduct market benchmarking, and maintain performance management systems.

Required profile

• Extensive senior HR leadership experience, preferably in banking or financial services.
• Deep knowledge of local labour laws and regulatory requirements in Pakistan.
• Proven ability to coach senior managers on people practices and drive cultural change.
• Strong track record in talent management, succession planning, and employee engagement.
• Experience working with board committees and handling statutory HR reporting.
