Import/Export Executive – Retired Pakistan Customs Officer

About the role

We are seeking a retired Pakistan Customs officer (BS‑16 or higher) to join our compliance and customs advisory team. The role focuses on providing expert guidance for import and export clearance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mitigating risks across our trading and manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on customs regulations, tariff classification, valuation, and documentation for inbound and outbound shipments.
• Manage clearance processes with port authorities, customs brokers, and carriers to minimise delays and demurrage costs.
• Review and approve import/export documents, bills of entry, certificates of origin, and related permits.
• Conduct internal audits and compliance checks, identify exposure to duties or penalties, and recommend corrective actions.
• Liaise with government agencies and industry stakeholders to resolve technical or procedural issues and represent the company during inspections or hearings.
• Train and mentor staff, and develop standard operating procedures for customs clearance and compliance.

Required profile

• Deep knowledge of the Pakistan Customs Act, SROs, tariff schedules, and HS‑code classification.
• Extensive experience preparing and reviewing bills of entry, shipping documents, certificates of origin, and bonded‑store procedures.
• Practical familiarity with port operations, container handling, demurrage calculations, and terminal processes.
• Strong liaison skills with customs authorities, port officials, and regulatory bodies.
• Proven track record in customs audits, dispute resolution, and penalty mitigation.
• Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to prioritise high‑risk consignments.
