Lead Proposal Engineer – Boilers, Pressure Vessels & Heat Exchangers

About the role

A manufacturer of mechanical equipment such as boilers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and other process equipment is looking for an experienced Lead Proposal to head its proposal work. The role covers technical and commercial proposals, tender review, cost estimation and coordination with engineering, production, procurement, QA/QC and sales.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of technical and commercial proposals in response to RFQs and tenders.
• Review tender documents, engineering drawings, technical specifications and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Prepare and validate detailed cost estimates covering materials, fabrication, welding, machining, testing, inspection and other manufacturing activities.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Procurement, QA/QC and Sales / Marketing teams to ensure technically compliant and commercially competitive bids.
• Evaluate applicable codes and standards, including ASME BPVC and TEMA.
• Manage pre-bid and post-bid clarifications, identify technical and commercial risks and support bid strategy.
• Guide proposal team members and improve estimation accuracy, costing systems and proposal quality.
• Hand over approved cost estimates and documentation to Project Management after contract award.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5-7 years of experience in proposals, tendering, estimation or costing within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of boilers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and static process equipment.
• Excellent analytical, coordination, communication and problem-solving skills.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of ASME codes, material specifications, fabrication processes and inspection requirements.
• Proficiency in technical drawing interpretation, BOQ verification, cost estimation and MS Office, especially Excel.
