Linux Systems Administrator / DevOps Engineer

About the role

Dataphone is seeking a hands‑on Linux Systems Administrator / DevOps Engineer to own and improve a large‑scale communications platform that includes VoIP, PBX, contact‑center, SMS and AI voice services. The role is fully remote and focuses on keeping the infrastructure reliable, secure and scalable.

Key responsibilities

• Administer production Debian/Ubuntu servers: provisioning, patching, hardening, monitoring and backup management.
• Deploy and maintain Node.js/TypeScript applications under PM2, including troubleshooting crashes and memory leaks.
• Configure and optimise NGINX for reverse‑proxy, SSL/TLS, load‑balancing and WebSocket support.
• Manage PostgreSQL servers: health monitoring, backups, replication and query performance assistance.
• Maintain VoIP components (FreeSWITCH, OpenSIPS), analyse SIP/RTP traffic and resolve call‑routing issues.
• Operate Docker containers, networking, volumes and assist with containerising new services.
• Implement monitoring and logging using Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Netdata and related tools.
• Automate routine tasks with Bash, Python or JavaScript/TypeScript scripts and Ansible.

Required profile

• 3+ years of Linux administration and DevOps experience, preferably on Debian/Ubuntu.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux, networking, NGINX, Node.js, PostgreSQL and VoIP stacks.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of incidents and document solutions.
• Comfortable handling production incidents and improving infrastructure continuously.
