Manager - Indirect Tax & Customs

About the role

The Manager – Indirect Tax & Customs will ensure timely and accurate compliance with Pakistan’s indirect tax regulations, including sales tax, customs duties and related refunds. Reporting to the finance function, the role supports Nestlé’s global tax standards while collaborating with internal stakeholders and tax authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Validate, prepare and file sales tax returns, statements and statutory reports on schedule.
• Prepare and track sales tax refund claims, maintaining full documentation and liaising with authorities.
• Determine correct H.S. codes for imports, exports and local sales, identifying cost‑saving opportunities through optimal classification and free‑trade agreements.
• Manage tax audits, notices and litigation, coordinating with external consultants and legal advisors as needed.
• Provide tax advisory support to business teams, identifying optimisation and cost‑saving opportunities.
• Maintain communication with tax authorities, auditors, consultants and internal finance, supply‑chain and control teams.
• Prepare local and international tax reports, perform quarterly GL reconciliations and review risk provisions.
• Conduct tax awareness sessions for internal stakeholders to mitigate compliance risks.

Required profile

• CA, CMA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification.
• 4‑6 years of experience in indirect tax, preferably within an MNC tax function or tax consultancy.
• Hands‑on experience with the FBR portal, sales tax return preparation and refund processing.
• Experience handling customs classification, duty drawback schemes and related audits.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Pakistan indirect tax laws and customs regulations.
• Familiarity with RCPS, RMS and the FBR portal systems.
• Advanced Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
• Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
