Manager Shariah Audit

About the role

ABL Funds, a leading asset management company, is inviting applications for the position of Manager Shariah Audit within its Internal Audit department, based in the Lahore office. The role covers risk-based Shariah audits of mutual funds, pension schemes and separately managed accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and conduct risk-based Shariah audits of mutual funds, pension schemes and separately managed accounts in line with Shariah principles, the Shariah Governance Framework and applicable SECP regulations.
• Document and prepare Shariah audit reports and observations, report findings and recommendations, and follow up on the timely resolution of observations.
• Coordinate with the Shariah Advisor on matters requiring clarification or approval, and support regulatory inspections and external audits.
• Review financial statements, income purification calculations and disclosures to ensure Shariah compliance before Board submission.
• Facilitate regulatory inspections and provide the information requested by external auditors on Shariah compliance and audits.
• Keep current with applicable Shariah standards and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Preferably a Shariah qualification such as Shahadat-ul-Alamiyah alongside ACCA, ICMA, CA or a relevant master's degree.
• At least 5 to 7 years of experience in a related field, preferably in the financial sector.

Required skills

• Understanding of Islamic finance, Shariah principles and relevant regulations.
• Ability to apply Shariah and regulatory requirements in audit work.
• Analytical, report writing and documentation skills.
• Professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
