Process Engineer - Technical Services

About the role

Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO), a joint venture between Pakistan and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi that owns and operates Pakistan's modern refinery, pipeline network, storage facilities and marketing operations, is hiring a Process Engineer for its Technical Services department. The position is based at the Mid Country Refinery in Mahmood Kot.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the performance of assigned units (Utilities, ETP, Tankage Area, Asphalt Air Blowing Unit, FGRS and TPF) against material and energy balances, process efficiency and overall plant performance.
• Monitor equipment such as compressors, turbines, cooling towers, heat exchangers, boilers, demineralization trays, tanks, pumps and other process equipment.
• Optimize chemical treatment programs for cooling water systems to control corrosion, prevent scale and fouling, and reduce fuel and energy consumption.
• Evaluate heat exchanger trains and water coolers, and optimize the use of chemicals, resins, adsorbents and filtration media.
• Initiate Management of Change (MOC) requests, conduct technical studies, take part in HAZOP, SIL-LOPA and engineering design reviews, and support change implementation and project closeout.
• Carry out process troubleshooting, root cause analysis and technical investigations, and prepare technical reports, business cases, operating guidelines and process calculations.
• Identify and implement process optimization, energy conservation, debottlenecking, waste minimization and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with HSEQ requirements, IMS procedures and environmental regulations, and mentor graduate and trainee engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from a HEC-recognized university.
• At least 3 years of experience in Operation and Technical Services in petroleum, refinery, fertilizer or petrochemical industry; experience in utilities and oil movement units is preferable.
• Experience with refinery units such as Utilities, Effluent Treatment, Oil Decanting, Blending and Storage is preferable.
• Good knowledge of MS Office, process simulation and other relevant software, and basic economic evaluation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good communication and report writing skills, and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
