Technologist (Analyzer Systems)

About the role

Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO), an integrated energy conglomerate and joint venture between Pakistan and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, is seeking an Analyzer Systems Technologist for its Mid Country Refinery in Mahmood Kot. The role covers the maintenance, troubleshooting and optimization of process analyzer systems and sampling systems.

Key responsibilities

• Execute maintenance orders in line with SOPs and the PARCO MCR HSEQ policy.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process analyzers and sampling systems.
• Diagnose faults, repair equipment, calibrate, replace components and configure analyzers and sampling systems.
• Plan maintenance schedules and resource needs for preventive and major maintenance.
• Provide technical expertise on analyzer systems for special projects and assignments.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as wiring diagrams, control logic descriptions and user manuals.
• Troubleshoot and repair analyzer systems, coordinate with Operations Supervisors and other stakeholders.
• Identify ways to optimize analyzer systems, improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Supervise and train junior team members.
• Close audit, survey and walkaround observations related to analyzers.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Planning for turnarounds and shutdowns, and be available outside normal hours for plant support and emergencies.

Required profile

• DAE or B.Tech. in Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation from a recognized institution.
• Up to 10 years of experience as an Instrument Technologist with analyzer systems in oil and gas, fertilizer or large-scale petrochemical industries.
• Experience with field instrumentation, process analyzers, fire and gas systems and vibration monitoring systems.
• Hands-on experience with process analyzers and sample conditioning systems, and with maintaining and troubleshooting field instruments and control valves.
• Ability to work safely and effectively under pressure, especially during emergency maintenance.

Required skills

• Troubleshooting FT-NIR, GC, hydrogen, sulfur, flash point, density, conductivity, TOC, RVP and oxygen analyzers.
• Interpreting P&IDs, loop drawings, logic diagrams, cause-and-effect diagrams and interlock drawings.
• Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Strong communication, analytical and presentation skills.
